Charles Court Opera was founded in 2005 by John Savournin, as a platform for young talent. Since then, CCO has grown into one of the leading young professional theatre companies in the UK, and the young performers that work with them have had the opportunity to perform across the country alongside some of the leading professionals in the field. CCO is committed to bringing theatrical performances to a wide variety of venues, performing both in 50 seat pub theatres and 800 seat opera houses.
The company has formed a strong commitment to collaborating with performers from the widest variety of musical backgrounds including musical theatre, opera and operetta alongside trained actors and even breakbeat singers. This open-minded approach has garnered the interest and involvement of many of the country’s most respected singers.
Their early acclaim and interest from some of the country’s top singers has allowed them to increase their scope to performances of operas by Mozart and Rimsky-Korsakov as well as Gilbert and Sullivan, educational work, and even quintessential pantomimes, in which music theatre and opera singers rub shoulders with musician-actors to create a theatrical experience like no other.
