Charles Court Opera, formed in 2005 by John Savournin, has become one of the UK's most diverse young opera companies, producing light opera, contemporary music, melodrama, fluxus events and even pantomime.
In a short life, they have performed over 20 works from Sullivan to Ullmann, Strauss to Ligeti, and Mozart to Maxwell Davies. The company has formed a strong commitment to collaborating with performers from a wide variety of musical backgrounds and this open-minded approach has garnered the interest and involvement of many of the country’s most respected artists.
Unique to the company is their frequent collaboration with Park Lane Young Artists the Eaton-Young piano duo (Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, St-Martin-in-the-fields) who arrange orchestral scores complete for piano duet or two pianos; thereby allowing performances in venues previously inaccessible without having to compromise the musical substance.
